by YESIn the 21st century, the girls and boys are treated equally and women are no longer confined within the four walls of their house, they are working in fact 24*7 nowadays. Yes the society has changed so much but it’s said that a girl’s reputation and image is everything to her, and if once it is lost it can’t be regained so easily.
I am saying all this because of increasing rape cases in India especially in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata etc. where it is believed that most of the well educated people lives. And not only Indian women even the foreigners who come from outside India, in a hope that they will try to understand our cultures and traditions gets raped as soon as they come out of the airports. Is this we are offering to other countries people? We call Delhi, the capital of India, but do you know it is the most unsafe city in India where women can’t move around freely in the fear that she will get raped.
We read daily in the newspapers about the rape cases but we tend to ignore them, but just think about the victims who have suffered it, I mean just imagine, her whole life is ruined, who will marry her? Will she be able to gain her confidence again?
What is the solution? Yes, it is true that many help line numbers are available and Delhi police is always obliged to help but police can’t be present everywhere.
I think it’s totally in our hands to save ourselves and as the saying goes God helps those who help themselves; we should always keep with us some protection measures so that we can avoid these situations.
